Cheese & Hotdogs Rice Paper Tteokbokki

Tteokbokki…. But what is this thing?!?! No, I didn’t take that word out of my hat, it is indeed a dish that really exists. Tteokbokki are dishes that come straight from South Korea. Watch out for the faint of heart, it's spicy! Spicy! In short, it tears the mouth. Koreans eat spicy and hot. So my kids who love chili are thrilled. Tteokbokki is a dish sold in the streets of South Korea by street vendors. There are endless versions.

Ingredients:
  • 500g of tteoks
  • 5 eggs
  • 3 slices of cheese
  • 3 teaspoons of chili puree
  • 2 teaspoons of chilli powder
  • 1 teaspoon of curry
  • 1 tablespoon of soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoon of caster sugar
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 25cl of water
  • 1 vegetable stock cube
  • Sesame seeds
Instructions:
  1. Boil water in a large saucepan to cook the tteoks.

  2. Meanwhile, prepare the chili sauce. In a bowl, mix the chili puree, chili powder, curry, soy sauce, sugar.

  3. Once the water has boiled, immerse the tteoks in it and cook for 2 minutes. They should become soft.

  4. Drain them in a colander and rinse them in cold water, which will stop my cooking. Reserve them.

  5. Hard-boil the eggs in a small pot of water. 9 minutes for hard-boiled eggs. Reserve them.

  6. Pour the spice and chilli mixture into a pan, add the 25cl of water and mix. Add the pinch of pepper and the vegetable bouillon cube.

  7. Let simmer over low heat. When you see the first small bubbles, add the tteoks and cook, stirring occasionally for 15 minutes.

  8. Add the mozzarella balls and half slices of cheese, for me, edam. Let the cheese melt.

  9. Serve hot, with hard-boiled eggs cut in 2. Sprinkle with sesame seeds or not.
